Resort: Princess Senses the Mangrove

Destination: Jamaica

Dates of Travel: May 11 – 15, 2026

I spent five days, four nights at one of the newest destination resorts in Jamaica, the Princess Senses the Mangrove.  Located in Green Island, outside of Lucea, this stunning adults-only property is a must for relaxation, connection, and good vibes.  Known as the resort for sunsets, each of the 401 suites and 14 overwater villas experience a breathtaking ocean view.  In addition to the spacious suites, there are a number of pools, bars, 14 dining options including a food truck experience, a water park, spa, and a state of the art casino (coming soon).  This destination is perfect for multi-generational family reunions or conferences with the family edition on site.

Sangster International Airport (Montego Bay) and Club Mobay-Arrival/Departure

I arrived around 11:00am to MBJ and was immediately welcomed by my Club Mobay escort after disembarking from the aircraft.  I completed my C5 immigration the day before, so processing through the kiosk was quick and easy.  I did not have a checked bag, so I exited the immigration hall and proceeded to customs.  After customs, I was escorted to Nexus to confirm my transfer and then went to the Club Mobay lounge.  I highly recommend Club Mobay for not only the expedited experience, but also for the lounge to refresh and grab a snack before moving on to the resort.

On my departure, there is a Club Mobay line at security.  Shoes do not have to be removed but your bags may be checked after being scanned.  I was sent to the lounge located across from gate 12 (I departed from gate 7 where there is a closer lounge).  Renovations had been completed since my last visit (October 2024) and so it was a pleasant surprise.  I took the elevator one floor down.  I was escorted to a seat.  There were plentiful options of heavy hors d'oeuvre like finger sandwiches, quiche, patties, salads, and fruit and a bar.  There were two sections that offered the same thing.  The bathroom was clean with 4 stalls and 3 sinks.  In the hallway, there is a small room for a seated massage.

 Nexus Transfer

When I checked in with Nexus, I was given about 15-20 minutes in the Club Mobay lounge.  However, when I went to the bus, we didn’t leave for about another 30-45 minutes.  I highly recommend asking what time the transfer is leaving so that a trip to the bathroom or purchasing a snack/water can be made.  The ride to the resort is close to two hours.  The motorocoach was air-conditioned and fairly smooth ride.

The ride to Green Island/Lucea is a little under two hours, give or take with conditions.  It is a two-way ride through small towns and the countryside.  There are no stops until the first resort stop which is Grand Palladium. From GP, it is about another 20 minute ride.

Resort

Arrival to the resort was around 3pm.  The entrance grounds are surrounded by…mangroves!  The property is well-kept and manicured.  Across from Senses, they are building a casino and entertainment complex (not sure on opening dates).  My check-in process went fairly smooth: I was escorted to a lounger in the lobby and an attendant processed me, along with a cool tool and a welcome drink.  Guests receive a color wristband which coordinates with the room category.

The resort lobbies were always clean and had plenty of seating for lounging, connecting, and even catching a quick nap!  The open access created a comfortable breeze along with the ceiling fans.  There was a bar and coffee shop that also served ice cream and pastries 24 hours a day!  And just a few steps away was a snack bar with small bites and drinks (this bar served the pool area also).

There are at minimum three main pools that provided lots of lounge seating and cabanas.  The vibe is different at all of them so there’s no shortage of choice where to go!  No towel card is needed and one can get as many towels as they like.

The beach is small and lacked shading.  However, there was plenty of space for lounging.

There is also an on-site dispensary located in the lobby.

Room

I was in a Deluxe Junior Suite which is their lead-in category.  The room is extremely spacious and smartly decorated.  The highlight of the room is the spectacular view from the balcony.  Every room has an ocean view room which made sunsets into evening quite breathtaking.  The suite is divided by a thick linen curtain separating the sleeping area from the bathroom.  The bathroom has two sinks, a soaking tub, double shower (with the overhead rain shower and a handheld), and the toilet closet is next to the front door.  There is plenty of closet space, and room amenities include two robes and slippers, additional blanket and pillows, coffee/tea, fully stocked mini-fridge, and a few snacks.  The bedroom had a king bed and a seating area with a sofa and table and chairs.  On the balcony were two cushioned wicker chairs and a table.

Additional room categories are swim-up suites, Pleasure/O Club, Platinum Club(VIP), and overwater villas.  The Pleasure/O Club suites include pleasure kits, a circular bed, mirrored ceilings, mood lighting, private balcony soaking tub, and other amenities such as tasting experiences.  Platinum Club has exclusive access to a beach club, pool, resort tram, and more.

The accommodations are utilized by “blocks” (buildings).  For instance, B2 (block 2) is Pleasure/O Club and B5 is Platinum.

Food

The Market Place is the buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  This is also mirrored on the Jamaica (family) side.  Seating is indoor and outdoor.  The buffet was always clean and plentiful.  There was always a traditional Jamaican food along with themed nights, antipasto bar, salad and fruit stations.  Spirits were also available with each meal.  On the second level of the food hall is the restaurants.  This is also where the lounge/piano bar and late-night club are located.  The eight restaurants are paired by sections with common lobby area.  I ate one night at the sushi restaurant which shared the pod with the teppanyaki restaurant.  Other restaurants were steakhouse, seafood, Italian, Mexican, Jamaican, and more.

Overall, I highly enjoyed my stay at Princess Senses the Mangrove.  It is a property that I would visit again and recommend to future clients.  This resort is perfect for a solo-centric traveler, a girls’ or friend trip, honeymooners, reunions or conferences.  Having the family side (Jamaica) on the other side of the complex makes it ideal for multigenerational events for those who want adult-only but still connect with family at various times throughout the stay.  The only reservation that I had about the resort was the amount of wear-and-tear around the resort and in my room, especially with it being under three years old.
